Career Highlights

Fred has devoted his entire legal career to the defense of healthcare professionals in civil litigation. He successfully defended a primary care physician in a medical negligence trial just a few months after he was admitted to the Bar of the State of Ohio. Since then, Fred has represented more than 1,000 healthcare providers and is one of the few medical negligence defense attorneys to have tried more than 100 cases to verdict.

Fred has represented physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers in both state and federal courts in Ohio as well as in other jurisdictions. He has secured successful verdict results in 95% of his trials including multiple catastrophic damages cases wherein the claims exceeded $50,000,000. His areas of practice cover all specialties in the practice of medicine as well as hospitals and long-term care facilities.

Mr. Sewards is regularly an invited lecturer to healthcare professionals on a variety of topics relevant to risk avoidance and healthcare litigation.
