Career Highlights

Grier’s litigation immersion began with his employment as a staff attorney at the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas in Columbus. “I learned the workings of the civil docket from the ground up, including the process of legal decision-making and the applicability of the Civil Rules and the Rules of Evidence to the facts of a given case.”

His next position with Earl Warburton & Adams lasted over 25 years. Starting as an associate and working to partner, he was involved with medical negligence litigation from the outset. He began trying cases alone from that point forward. His caseload included a myriad of traumatic injury and wrongful death cases. He has tried products liability and general liability cases for both plaintiffs and defendants, in addition to maintaining a statewide medical litigation caseload representing hospitals, physicians, pharmacists, nurses, extended care facilities and health care service agencies. His federal and state litigation docket also led to an appellate practice where some of his cases were resolved in the Ohio Supreme Court or the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

In October 2015, Grier came to Arnold Todaro Welch & Foliano. He has over 30 years’ experience in all areas of medical litigation, including cardiovascular, neurological, neurosurgical, radiology, oncology, obstetric-gynecologic and hospital administration issues. He is a requested hospital lecturer as well as a speaker for local medical societies on litigation-related topics. He also serves as a litigation consultant for an interstate hospital system.

Grier has served on the Ohio State Bar Association’s Jury Instruction Committee and he was appointed to its editorial board of review in 2010. He was previously appointed to serve with the Ohio Jury Instruction Committee on a special assignment involving development and drafting of specific subject matter civil jury instructions.

His outside interests include history, travel, and enjoying the company of his wife, family and their menagerie of animals.
